Why Should My Child Participate in ACT-SO?

As high school students bombarded with homework, projects, clubs, sports, and more, the last thing you want to do is add another activity to your child’s schedule. On the other hand, your child may be a student who isn’t really involved because they just can’t seem to find an activity that interests them.  In either case, ACT-SO Columbia is a program that they can’t do without. We will provide your child with the tools to help them increase their confidence, achieve their goals, and become a success.

At ACT-SO meetings and workshops, we will teach your child how to successfully compete against themselves by inspiring them to do their absolute best – teaching them the importance of preparation and presentation. ACT-SO pushes students to reach their maximum potential.

Unlike other extracurricular activities, ACT-SO provides students the opportunity to showcase their talents in a variety of fields including Performing Arts, Visual Arts, S.T.E.M., Humanities, and Business. ACT-SO will also provide your child with mentors that share their interest, who will provide counsel and advice needed for your child to reach their goals.

If you’re still not convinced, here are the top 5 reasons why your child should join ACT-SO:

  1. Your child will meet and compete against talented students from across the country.
  2. We teach your child real “life lessons” that will help them succeed in both the classroom and life.
  3. Your child can win cash prizes and a brand new laptop.
  4. It will look great on their college resume.
  5. We’re not just another boring activity. We actually have fun.

Awards and Prizes

Above all, ACT-SO is a learning experience in which prizes are awarded. ACT-SO Columbia awards gold, silver and bronze medals top the top 3 students in each category.
